This site originally done in HTML 4.0 and CSS 2.0, was later transitioned to
CitySoft's Association Management Application (run on the Colf Fusion platform).
My part was to help the Council consolidate their data needs, prepare a request
for proposals, interviewed vendors, and worked w/selected vendor to customize
the application. This site will provide the State of Hawaii, members and
the public with critical science and technology sector data to help grow this
critical economy.
Site layout, development and Web Master. Logo by Brooks Bays. PHI
does international customer service training.
This site is a simple place holder representing the efforts of our administration
team withing the University of Hawaii
PRCMB also uses the eRA code developed for MarBEC and EPSCoR, but the site
is not 'dynamic'. The code is used for our dual agency (NIH and NSF) reporting
requirments and to keep track of and share Center events via the calendar.
Solely designed and developed by myself, with the exception of the logo which
was designed by Ric Yanagihara, PRCMB's Co-Director
The EPSCoR site is the second generation of the Electronic Reporting Administration
(eRA) software originally developed for MarBEC. The site was originally
designed by the UH Hilo illustration group. I utilized their design elements
and came up with the current format. The site is 'dynamic'. As with
any chance to do something again, we focused on improvements in the user interface.

Marine Bioproducts Engineering Center -
released Feb '00
The third of my large organization Web sites and by far the most technically
complex. One and a half years in development that included a budget of $1.5M and
a team of two faculty and five student developers. The project, developed from
scratch is a complete information and research reporting system. Based on NSF's
Reporting Guidelines, it collects information about who is doing what, and what
are the outcomes of the research. It also includes a proposal system (input, review,
comment and approval), a calendar, chat rooms, and special event management. All
information is submitted by the Center's participants via the web, stored into
a relational database, with output feeding annual reports and dynamic Web site
content. Developed on the Microsoft IIE platform, SQL Server and ASP. With versatility
in mind, we developed the application to be used (licensed) in other academic
research organizations, such as other NSF ERC's, university schools, departments,
units or labs. Current interest in the application includes many of the University
of Hawaii Schools and offices. I am the project manager and Web Master. We outsourced
the design and early development to CyberCom,
Inc., and the development was by students of UH's Information and Computing
Sciences, Software Engineering Research Laboratory (SERL).

of the kimonos. Designed the logo and trained a student in HTML and graphics as
part of a summer work study program. I ceased Web Master upon roll-out of the

Chesapeake Bay Program - released
Jan '96
My first position in web development and large organization project. The Bay
Program included all 5 States in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and the District
of Columbia. It communicated political and environmental information to federal
and state governments and agencies, to universities, and the public. Designed
and developed, producing 1200 HTML pages within one year (boy, those were the
days!). Worked closely with several committees, including communications. Trained
several employees in HTML and graphic manipulation, established the Bay Program's
Intranet, and co-authored the Bay Program's Web site Guidelines. The site has
gone through two major revisions since then, though I can see that the foundation
and structure of the site that I established is still implemented, including several
of my graphics. I ceased Web Master authority in Dec '98.
